Product Release: Star Unveils New Front Loading, Voice Enabled Platform Printer Ideal for Environments Where Counter Space is at a Premium

April 27, 2010 – Edison, NJStar Micronics, a leading worldwide manufacturer of POS printers, announces the release of the FVP-10 (buy here from Legacy Technology Services), a front loading, voice enabled printer.  The FVP-10 is designed to bring an array of new benefits like front loading, onboard USB, receipt compression for paper saving, and can also be utilized in a number of configurations for applications with limited counter space. With its high print speed of 250mm/sec, it is one of the quickest models on Star’s roster of point of service printers.

The FVP-10 has two unique design features: a flat roof and front paper exit. These features provide flexibility when counter space is at a premium by allowing users to mount the printer under the counter or place it on the counter.  When used on the counter, the flat roof of the FVP-10 can hold up to 7 pounds of accessories including POS peripherals like a barcode scanner or credit card terminal.  The specific front loading design of this printer has allowed Star engineers to reposition the sensitive components of the device and secure them against liquid spills. Star has received the IPX1 certification for this product, thus proving that Star is once again innovating and leading the industry.

“The FVP-10 is designed to offer a versatile, ergonomic footprint for POS applications where space is limited,” commented Christophe Naasz, Director of Marketing, Star Micronics America. “The FVP-10 delivers the best you can expect from a POS printer; high speed, ultra high reliability and space optimization.”

The most distinctive feature of this new printer is that it is voice enabled, allowing it to communicate important information to both customers and staff. The FVP-10’s default command library, features up to 255 voice commands that can be easily activated. It also has the capability to record custom voice messages in any language to fit store, brand or staff needs. Employee voice alerts, such as, “paper low, please replace” or customer alerts such as “you have qualified for a $5 rebate, see coupon on receipt for details” are easily programmable.

The FVP-10 is ideal for a broad range of markets including retail, self-service, banking, hospitality, and airlines and transportation.
