Challenges
In today’s medical environment, mistakes can and do occur on a frequent basis. It is challenging for caregivers to properly administer and record every step without error. Many of these errors revolve around the task of properly verifying and matching prescription orders and dosages issued by the doctor to the actual drugs and dose being administered. This can lead to devastating effects and repercussions.

Solution
Unitech and their Partners have developed the PA600 Mobile Clinical Assistant (MCA) for Nursing Information Systems, an extension to the current Mobile Cart Solution. The MCA provides added mobility for seamless point of care and, as a result, improves patient safety. The solution allows caregivers to confirm medicine administration and patient identification through barcode and RFID technology. Before medication is administered to a patient, the caregiver confirms the correct medication, dosage, and patient information all on the PA600 MCA. Patient data is then immediately updated wirelessly to the database. This not only reduces a hospital’s heavy workload, but more importantly ensures 100% accuracy in data collection.

Lightweight, Ergonomic Design
The PA600 MCA is small enough to fit in your shirt pocket, weighing just 11 ounces. But don’t let its size fool you – with a 624MHz processor and 576 MB of Flash ROM, the PA600 MCA is a powerful device. Designed to fit comfortably in the user’s hand, the MCA’s alphanumeric keypad makes data entry simple and the large 3.5” color touchscreen enables the operator to easily view more information.

The PA600 MCA’s rugged design won’t let you down either. Its IP64 rating makes it extremely resistant to moisture and dust, and its robust build is able to withstand multiple 4-foot drops to concrete without damage.
